Solutions for Improper Approach Detection in Energized Equipment

Sponsor: Waldenir Alexandre da Silva Cruz
Leader: Christhian Henrique Gomes Fonseca

How can we use tools, equipment and technologies to detect and prevent improper approach to energized equipment in substations and plants, promoting greater safety for operation and maintenance?

Brief Challenge Description:

This challenge proposes the implementation of solutions to detect the undue approach of people in critical areas near energized equipment or areas not cleared for work. The solution can use sensors, cameras, wearable devices, or advanced detection technologies to monitor risk zones and issue real-time alerts.

Mandatory requirements for the solution:
  • Ability to monitor and detect approaches in critical areas in real time.
  • Integration with audible or visual alert systems to notify of risks.
  • Compatibility with industrial environments and exposure to weather (IP65 or higher).
  • Impact-free operation on energized equipment.
Business Impacts:
The implementation of a solution for detecting improper approach will reduce the risks of accidents with energized equipment, promoting a safer and more efficient work environment. In addition, it will strengthen compliance with safety regulations, minimizing potential operational disruptions.

Expected Benefits:
  • Reduction of accidents in substations and power plants.
  • Increased safety for operators and maintainers.
  • Improved reliability of operations and reduced costs associated with accidents.

Deadline: Proposal submission form will be available until 02/02/2025
