Innovation Grid

Purpose: Adoption of photovoltaic small-scale power generation with battery energy storage as an autonomous source of supply for the auxiliary services of 230/500 kV substations with internal source restrictions.

Objectives

Use battery energy storage and photovoltaic systems in the auxiliary service of 230/500 kV substations to replace diesel generators and as backups for external sources from utilities, reducing polluting gas emissions, attenuating noise, and mitigating the risk of interruptions.

Key Results

  • Technical: PV system and HBESS supply Substation Auxiliary Service
  • Strategic: Increasing the reliability of the system, promoting safety for the supply of essential services
  • Economic: Reduce maintenance costs and spending on fuel and lubricants, broaden the debate with a view to reducing investments in spare parts (SE batteries) and quickly restoring the electrical system in contingencies.
